As a general rule of thumb, your rug should be large enough to go under the front legs of your furniture. A rug that is too small can seriously compromise the design of your space.

We like to leave at least 6 inches of space between the wall and your rug
Make sure to factor in doors that open into the space. If your door doesn't have enough clearance to open fully, it may get caught on your rug which is an everyday annoyance you definitely don't want!
Preventing Drawer Organizers From Slipping and Sliding
Museum Gel was originally created to tack down antiques and collectibles to keep them from falling over and breaking. While this is great to use for displayed items in the home, it also works wonders for keeping drawer organizers in place.
It’s removable, reusable, non-toxic, and not sticky to the touch. Apply a small ball to the base of your drawer organizers. I like to do it on opposite corners, but you can place it in the middle if your organizer is flat, or on every corner. Place the organizer back in your drawer and press down to adhere.
Now your drawer organizers won’t be slipping and sliding every time you open and close your drawers.
After her recent trip to Nashville, Shawn is back on a sweet tea kick. It’s the perfect summer drink to keep around the house, or to bring to the cookout. While iced tea is a simple drink, only requiring tea and water, we’ve been experimenting with different brew methods to create the best iced tea recipe... ever.
Starting off, it’s important to use good quality tea and water. If your tap water has any sort of taste (as many do), it’s best to use filtered or bottled water.
The Hot Brew Method
This method is the faster of the two, however it takes double the tea bags. For this method, you boil your water and use 2 tea bags per cup of water.
Steep your tea bags for 3-5 minutes, then remove. Tip: tie your tea bags to a wooden spoon and place the spoon over the pitcher so that the bags don’t fall in.
After removing the tea bags, add sugar if desired and an equal amount of cold water to cool it down. Once the tea has reached room temperature, put it in the fridge and serve after chilled.
2. The Cold Brew Method
This method uses tea bags steeped in cold water. This allows the flavors to steep slowly, releasing less tannins than the hot brew method, resulting in a smoother drink.
Steep 1 tea bag per cup of water in the fridge for 8-12 hours. After your tea is done steeping, remove the bags and enjoy!
3. Sun tea
Place 1 tea bag per cup of water in a pitcher and cover.
Place the pitcher outside or in a window with direct sunlight for about 6 hours. The tea will slowly steep as the sun warms the water, creating a yummy iced tea.
Remove tea bags after 6 hours and enjoy!
What method do you use when making iced tea? Let us know if you’ve experimented with any of these methods. Which one is your favorite?
So, picture this: a bustling kitchen, a family of five, 2 dogs, 3 cats and a whole lot of love (and chaos). 🍽️👨👩👧👦
Design Challenge: Great Island Oopsie:
A few years back, our lovely family decided to add a ginormous island to their kitchen. You know, the kind that screams, “Come gather 'round, folks!” But guess what? It turned into a traffic jam! 🚗🚶♀️🚶♂️
Design Solution: Holistic Approach for the Whole Space!
Replace 25-year-old cabinets including the island to one that is appropriately sized for the space.
Change out the slider for a regular door making way for a beverage center complete with mini fridge and microwave.
Enlarge the footprint of the kitchen by adding built in cabinetry surrounding the fireplace to the dining room where there will be a large table with seating for 8-10
Inject character by utilizing two finishes, frost and timber to create warmth in a light and bright kitchen.

After 30 years of sharing a bathroom, our lovely homeowners are finally getting their own private oasis!
Honorable mentions include:
🚿 60" Shower: Imagine stepping into a spa-like retreat every morning, the oversized shower is a game-changer!
💡 His & Hers Sinks: Sitting below a 40” square mirror, the his and hers sinks are a huge upgrade from the previous bathroom where the couple shared a sink. The husband often got booted to the guest bathroom when they both had to get ready, but not anymore!
🗄️ 54" Vanity: Storage galore! Offering extra storage, we can now say goodbye to cluttered countertops.
